Burial or Cremation
One of the first decisions that need to be made is whether to go with burial or cremation. Often the preference has already been stated in the will so you will need to check with your solicitor or the executor of the will.
Choosing burial means you will need to select and then purchase a burial plot in the cemetery of your choice. Another thing to consider is the selection of a headstone and the wording you wish to be on it. For many, the tradition is for the headstone to be placed and unveiled one year later in a special ceremony. Our team can advise you of all the costs involved.
Cremation has become a very popular option. With cremation the options for the final resting place for your ashes is infinite and we can give you advice on this. This is also something that you can take your time with and a decision that you don’t have to make until you’re completely comfortable.
VENUE
There are many options where to hold your funeral service, from your local church, the RSA, a garden, a beach, a club and of course here in the chapel at Betts Funeral Services. Once the decision has been made where you wish to hold the service, our team will work through all the requirements with you, and will liaise with the venue.
VIEWING
Saying goodbye to your loved one, friend or colleague is an important part of grieving. Spending time with the deceased helps us accept the “death” and come to terms with the reality of the loss. You may wish to have your loved at home for some time before the service, or spend time with them at our funeral home. Our family viewing rooms are quiet, spacious and private ensuring your time with them is peaceful and belongs to you and your family.
