WOOD, Joan (nee Hertnon) On Wednesday 19 October 2016, peacefully at the Timaru Hospital, aged 89. Dearly loved wife of the late Verdun (Dick), loved mother of Tony and June, David and Sandra, Anne (deceased), John and Gail, Mary and John, Jenny and Ian, Paula and Gavin, Peter and Gavin, Brendan and Gerald, Gerard, Kerry and Annemarie. Loved grandma of Andrew, Emily and Chris, Chris and Laura-Jane, Toni, Nicholas and Laura, Simon, Thomas and Hannah and Great Grandmother of Catrin, Astrid, and Oliver.  Requiem Mass for Joan will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Basilica on Saturday 22 October at 11.00am, followed by interment at Timaru Cemetery. A Rosary for Joan will be held at the Basilica on Friday October 21, at 7.00pm.  In lieu of flowers donations to the NZ Foundation for the Blind would be appreciated and can be left at the service.
